Molecular Structure
Introduction:
Tristyrylphenol Ethoxylates, represented by CAS 99734-09-5, are a class of nonionic surfactants derived from tristyrylphenol, which is chemically structured with three styrene groups attached to a phenolic ring. These compounds are further modified through ethoxylation, a chemical process that involves adding ethylene oxide (EO) units to the phenolic structure.

Key Characteristics and Uses:
♦ Surfactant Properties: Tristyrylphenol Ethoxylates are primarily valued for their surfactant properties. They have the ability to reduce surface tension between different substances, such as oil and water, making them effective emulsifiers and dispersants.
♦ Emulsification: These compounds are frequently used in industrial processes to stabilize and create emulsions, which are mixtures of immiscible liquids like oil and water. Tristyrylphenol Ethoxylates facilitate the blending of such substances, enhancing the homogeneity of products.
♦ Wetting Agents: They are used as wetting agents in various applications, such as in the textile industry to improve the penetration of dyes and chemicals into fibers, ensuring uniform coloring.
♦ Cleaning and Detergency: Tristyrylphenol Ethoxylates find application in household and industrial cleaning products as effective detergents, aiding in the removal of oils, greases, and dirt from surfaces.
♦ Foaming Agents: In certain formulations, they are used to generate stable foams, making them useful in products like shampoos, soaps, and foam firefighting agents.
♦ Industrial Processes: These surfactants are employed in diverse industrial processes, including agrochemicals, coatings, and petrochemicals, where they assist in enhancing the dispersion and stability of various components.
Product advantages:
excellent dispersing properties for organic pigments and carbon black,
provides superior stability of water-dilutable pigment concentrates,
prevents pigment sedimentation,
significantly reduces pigment concentrate viscosity,
improves concentrate tinctorial strength,
provides excellent colour stability,
provides very good pigment concentrate compatibility with commonly used water-dilutable paints,
VOC-free,
does not contain alkylphenol ethoxylates.
Safety Considerations:
It's important to handle Tristyrylphenol Ethoxylates with care and in accordance with safety guidelines. Safety data sheets (SDS) should be consulted for specific information on handling, storage, and disposal.
In summary, Tristyrylphenol Ethoxylates (CAS 99734-09-5) are versatile surfactants widely used in industrial processes, cleaning products, and emulsification applications. Their ability to reduce surface tension, stabilize emulsions, and enhance wetting makes them valuable components in various industries, contributing to product performance and quality.

FIRST AID MEASURES
General advice
Move out of dangerous area. When symptoms develop and persist, seek medical advice.
Skin contact
Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off thoroughly with plenty of
water and soap, if available with polyethyleneglycol 400, subsequently rinse with water.
Eye contact
Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.
Ingestion
When swallowed accidentally, do not induce vomiting, get medical help. Induce vomiting only, if: 1. patient is fully conscious, 2. medical aid is not readily available, 3. a significant amount (more than a mouthful) has been ingested and 4. time since ingestion is less than 1 hour. (Vomit should not get into the respiratory tract.)
Notes to Physician
Treatment
Local treatment:
Treat symptomatically.
Treatment
Gastric lavage is not normally required. If a significant amount (more than a mouthful) has been ingested, administer activated charcoal and sodium sulphate. There is no specific antidote. Treat symptomatically.
Exposure Controls / Personal Protection of Tristyrylphenol Ethoxylates
Personal protective equipment
In normal use and handling conditions please refer to the label and/or leaflet. In all other cases the following recommendations would apply.
Respiratory Protection
No personal respiratory protective equipment normally required.
Respiratory protection
should only be used to control residual risk of short duration activities, when all reasonably practicable steps have been taken to reduce exposure at source e.g. containment and/or local extract ventilation. Always follow respirator manufacturer's instructions regarding wearing and maintenance.
Hand Protection
Wear CE Marked (or equivalent) nitrile rubber gloves (minimum thickness 0,40 mm). Wash when contaminated. Dispose of when contaminated inside, when perforated or when contamination outside cannot be removed. Wash hands always before eating, drinking, smoking or using the toilet.
Eye protection
Wear goggles conforming to EN166 (Field of Use 5 or equivalent).
Skin and body protection
Wear standard coverall and type 6 suit.
Wear two layers of clothing wherever possible. Polyester/cotton or cotton overalls should be worn under chemical protection suit and should be professionally laundered frequently.Bayer CropScience
Hygiene measures
Wash hands immediately after work, if necessary take a shower.Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.
